This entire class is focused on muscles in our upper arms that don't always get the attention they deserve - our triceps muscles. We will look at different ways of strengthening this area. You will need a sturdy chair, a block and a firm massage ball (any small firm ball will work for this).

Today we are doing something different. We will be reinventing some familiar yoga poses using sliders. You can use paper or plastic plates on a carpeted floor or small folded blankets or socks on a tiled or wooden floor. You will need 2 sliders.

Strength with a strap. Today we will use a yoga strap to provide some resistance and traction for our arms to work with. A prop can often bring a different feel to familiar poses. We can feel the prop as highlighting and emphasising rather than only being used to support or correct.

What is pelvic stability? Its our ability to keep our pelvis steady and well-aligned while our arms and legs are moving. Maintaining the position of our pelvis, the anchor point of many of our essential core muscles such as our deep abdominals and pelvic floor, can allow us to practice yoga efficiently and safely. Optimal pelvic alignment and control prevents us falling into unhelpful patterns of muscle imbalance or compensation. In this class we will challenge our pelvic stabilising muscles by creating instability. You will need a partially deflated small exercise ball.

In this class we will focus on an essential area, the side body, also known as the lateral line in the language of fascia. We will explore ways of strengthening our side that will be of benefit when practising poses like side plank.

Today we will focus on the importance of strengthening our psoas muscles. Yoga classes often concentrate on stretching this powerful hip flexor. However, poses and movements that tone the psoas, without overstraining it, can be very helpful.
